We want to help every Australian build their resilience to worsening bushfire and climate conditions, through immersive storytelling across many formats.

What is good for one community benefits another. With the tools that are being developed be offered to other communities in the same program. Our goal is to build up the toolkit overtime and we’re seeking funding to develop new tools based on our initial community consultation and research.

Dan is passionate about empowering teams and individuals to solve tough problems. He utilises human-centred design and design thinking processes in conjunction with storytelling and technology to make impactful outcomes for his users. Dan is a User Experience and Innovation Specialist in the Cloud Campus team at Deakin University. His role involves talking to students, mapping their experiences and developing innovative products and concepts on the most significant challenges for this unique cohort. At Deakin, Dan’s led the development and design of a number of tools such as Cloudy: A resilience toolkit, Deakin Buddies and the MBA Challenge Mode. Dan also is in the early stages of releasing an addictive mobile game called Muttnik and blogs about creativity, technology and game design.
Rachael Vorwerk is a science communicator and has been published in Cosmos, Decision Point and CSIRO’s Double Helix magazine. In 2017 Rachael conducted research into the success of ABC’s War on Waste television series, and has more recently broadened into social change communication as a consultant. She also works at RMIT as a Research Assistant developing content for an app launching in late 2020 called 64 Ways of Being, that is like Pokémon Go, but for languages. In 2020 Rachael also began as a casual academic at Deakin University.
Danielle is an Interactive Developer and casual academic at Deakin University. Her passion lies in student-centred education that leverages human emotion, story and play to deliver meaningful experiences for learners. Collaboration is a key driver of her projects, some of them including Our Gamified World, Safety Matters at Deakin University, Deakin Nursing Simulation Centre induction training (see excerpt), Choose your own career adventure, The Story of Hemp and Health Digital Resource workshops. Danielle is currently studying a Master of Digital Learning Leadership, researching escape room approaches to bushfire preparedness education.
